PUBLISHER’S NOTE: Issue #6 continues the trend of including several pieces/fragments of fiction, but other writing is and will remain highly welcome.
Inter alia, #6 includes a writing-retreat report by Rett, book reviews by David, the latest instalment of Nils’ meticulous Clark Ashton Smith scholarship, and — to my great interest — Allen’s thematic analysis of Leiber’s ‘While Set Fled,’ a tale of a craftsman choosing creation in the face of apocalypse, including historical perspectives on Howard’s barbarism/civilization dichotomy. Thoughtful work all around. I have my biases, but I think Scribe & Sigil has been hitting its stride as high signal, low noise.
I’ll also echo our redoubtable editor Carl, who notes: “I hope you all
are putting your hat into the ring for New Edge Sword & Sorcery who are opening for general submission for the month of August, or for Ichor which is opening during the month of September.”
